The Mellow LLL Plus Filament Buffer has already proven itself as a mature and reliable solution. In response to customer demand, we developed the LLL Plus 2.85 Filament Buffer — a remote automatic feeding buffer designed specifically for 2.85mm thick filament. It retains all the original functions — automatic filament replenishment, filament break detection, and smart buffering — while upgrading the motor to the HEM-17D4006-42. With 3.2× the torque of the original motor, a longer 22mm shaft, and a rated phase current of 1.7A, it delivers stable, slip-free feeding even for 2.85mm filament.

Electric Feeding & Retraction

Two dedicated buttons on the body allow one-touch electric feeding and retraction. No more manual pushing or pulling — even thick filament can be loaded and unloaded with ease.

Automatic Smart Buffering

Built-in Hall sensors continuously monitor the buffer zone. When the extruder pulls filament, the buffer automatically feeds more material to maintain optimal tension at all times. This eliminates strain on the extruder during long-distance feeding, resulting in smoother extrusion, fewer layer lines, and finer print details.

Filament Break Detection

Sensors continuously monitor filament presence. If a break or run-out is detected, the buffer instantly sends a pause signal to the mainboard, preventing failed prints and wasted material. (Requires signal wire connection and firmware configuration.)

Silent Operation (Plus Edition)

Equipped with a silent driver chip, the Plus version keeps noise significantly lower than standard solutions — even when the high-torque motor runs at full speed. Ideal for unattended, long-duration prints.

2.85mm filament has 2.6× the cross-sectional area of 1.75mm, meaning feeding resistance increases dramatically. The original NEMA 11 motor (0.14 N·m torque) simply couldn't keep up. The 2.85 version solves this with a complete motor upgrade to the HEM-17D4006-42:
